🚫 There is no free Turnitin
Turnitin only licenses institutions. There is no personal subscription, no free trial for students and no "free Turnitin checker" run by Turnitin. Every page ranking for that phrase is one of these:
- A different checker wearing the name — Duplichecker, SmallSEOTools, Plagium, PlagScan, Quetext. They search the public web only, not Turnitin's database of student papers, so the score is usually much lower than your lecturer will see.
- Free until you want the report — a percentage for free, then USD 10–20 to see which sources matched.
- Sites that keep your paper — and later resell or index it, so your own essay can be flagged against you.
⚖️ Why a web-only checker is not enough
Most matches in a Malaysian thesis come from other students' submissions — "Submitted to Universiti Teknologi MARA", "Submitted to UKM" — which only exist inside Turnitin. A free web checker showing 4% can turn into 28% in the official check. If the number you need is the one your university will see, only a Turnitin report gives it.
💡 The cheapest real option
TurnitinMy: RM2.78 per standard check, RM3.78 for a full thesis, RM7.99 with AI detection. Genuine Turnitin PDF in 5–15 minutes, No Repository, file deleted after 14 days. That is cheaper than unlocking one report on most "free" checkers.
❓ Questions
Is there really no free Turnitin trial?
Not for students. Turnitin offers evaluations to institutions considering a licence, never to individuals.
Are Duplichecker, Plagium or PlagScan the same as Turnitin?
No. They are separate tools with their own (mostly web-based) databases. They can catch copied web text but miss matches with other students' papers, which is what Turnitin is known for.
Is a shared Turnitin class ID a free way in?
It is a fast way to get into trouble: the class is someone else's, it gets revoked, and your paper goes into the repository — so your real submission later matches it at 100%.
What about "turnitin plagiarism checker free" apps on Google Play?
None are made by Turnitin. Treat any app asking you to upload a thesis "for free" as a paper collector until proven otherwise.
How much is the real thing here?
RM2.78 for a standard check. See the Turnitin checker page for details.
